Love BSL is a proud Deaf-led company providing BSL interpretation, translation and training across Scotland.
Our services have been rated as outstanding by our customers, but it is our ethical business model that sets us apart from other BSL agencies.
Our work is founded on:
I’m Elizabeth, I have a passion for languages, learning and teaching. I am a native BSL user, and use the St Vincent’s sign variant of BSL as I attended the St Vincent’s school for the deaf in Glasgow.
My qualifications include:
I have taught BSL for over 25 years, and I am experienced in teaching qualifications from the various awarding bodies such as SQA, Signature, iBSL, as well as the curricula from Deaf organisations such as BDA and NDCS. I have been an External Verifier for SQA and their BSL qualifications.
I also develop curricula for bespoke BSL courses, and teach all levels from taster sessions to interpreter training and development. I have been fortunate to work with the talented interpreting community in Scotland and respect the specialist nature of the interpreter’s role. I have met with every interpreter registered to this agency and ensure that we provide a service which is high quality, ethical and person-centred.
I believe that BSL is a unique, rich and varied language, and I am keen to ensure it is protected for years to come. I am enthusiastic about working with fellow teachers of BSL, and encourage more research into the linguistics of BSL. BSL should be available to anyone who wants to learn it, since it is an indigenous language of Scotland. I love delivering training sessions and deaf awareness to new people since I can introduce them to the beauty of BSL and the richness of Deaf culture.
